A busy market scene: what is happening?

Prompt PPJ-ENG-02252

🦉 Learn it

A good reader is like a detective. When you read a description, you look for clues that tell you what is happening and why, even when the writer does not say it.

When you retell, you say what happened in your own words and in the right order. Keep the important parts and leave out the small ones.

If you meet a new word, look at the words around it for clues. Then check it in a dictionary. Dictionary words are in alphabetical order, so look at the first letter, then the second, then the third.

Clue detective

"Emeka wiped his face and drank a whole bottle of water."

Clues: wiping his face, drinking a lot.

What might be happening? He is hot and thirsty, perhaps after running or working in the sun.
