What makes a change reversible?
Prompt PPJ-SCI-02251
🦉 Learn it
A change is reversible when you can get back what you started with. The stuff is still the same stuff; it has only changed its shape or its state.
Step 1: Start with ice. Step 2: Warm it and it melts into water. Step 3: Put the water back in the freezer and it becomes ice again. You got the ice back, so melting is a reversible change.
Most reversible changes happen when we warm something up or cool it down, or when we mix things that can be separated again. No new material is made.
Shea butter in Kano
Aisha leaves a tin of shea butter in the hot sun. It melts into a runny oil. In the evening it cools and goes solid again. The shea butter melted and set again, so the change was reversible.
