Learn about condensation

Prompt PPJ-SCI-02581

🦉 Learn it

The air around us always holds some water you cannot see. This water is a gas called water vapour.

When water vapour cools down, it turns back into tiny drops of liquid water. This change, from gas to liquid, is called condensation.

Take a cold bottle of water out of the fridge. Soon its outside is covered in little drops. The bottle cooled the air touching it, and the water vapour in that air condensed into drops on the bottle.

Condensation is the opposite of evaporation. Evaporation is liquid water turning into water vapour; condensation is water vapour turning back into liquid water.

Tunde's cold drink

Tunde takes a cold bottle of water from the fridge on a hot day in Lagos. After a few minutes, the outside is wet. Water vapour from the warm air touched the cold bottle, cooled down and became drops of water.
