What Is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence: smart computer programmes.
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. That's a big phrase, but it just means "smart computer programmes."
You already use AI every day! When you talk to a voice assistant, that's AI listening to your voice. When a learning app gives you easier or harder questions based on how you're doing, that's AI too. When YouTube suggests a video you might like, AI chose it for you.
AI works by looking at millions and millions of examples, then spotting patterns. If you show a computer millions of photos of cats, it learns what a cat looks like. That's how AI learns: from examples, not from thinking like you do.
๐ก Did You Know?
ChatGPT learned to write by reading billions of words from the internet. That's like reading every book in your school library thousands of times over!
AI can also create new things: stories, pictures, answers, even music. This is called Generative AI. But here's the really important thing to remember: AI is not alive. It doesn't have feelings. It's just a very clever pattern-spotting machine.
